In STEP 1, adults taking Wegovy 2.4 mg had lost an average of 14.9% of their body weight by week 68. For a starting weight of 232 lb that is about 35 lb. Individual results in the trial varied widely: 83.5% of participants lost at least 5%, and 30.2% lost at least 20%. The placebo group lost an average of 2.4%. Everyone in the trial also received diet and physical activity counselling.

STEP 1 (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT03548935) enrolled 1,961 adults with obesity (BMI ≥30), or overweight (BMI 27 to 29.9) with at least one weight-related condition; type 2 diabetes excluded and ran for 68 weeks. It compared Wegovy with placebo. All patients received instruction for a reduced-calorie diet (about 500 kcal/day deficit) and physical activity counselling (minimum 150 min/week). Escalated to 2.4 mg weekly during a 16-week period, followed by 52 weeks on maintenance dose. How the figures were analysed: Intent-to-treat population (all randomized patients); missing week-68 weights imputed from retrieved subjects of the same arm (label Table 8, footnote 1). How this calculator works
It looks up the average percent change in body weight that the Wegovy prescribing information prints for the dose you choose, at the end of STEP 1, and multiplies your starting weight by it. Nothing else goes into the number: no age, sex, health condition, diet or activity, because the trial does not publish an adjustment a calculator could honestly apply.
Worked example. The 2.4 mg group lost an average of 14.9% by week 68. For a starting weight of 232 lb: 232 × 14.9 ÷ 100 = about 35 lb.
There is no week-by-week view. The prescribing information prints the result at the end of the trial only, so the calculator shows that result and does not estimate the weeks in between or anything after the trial ended.
