How food logging works in GLP AI
This article explains how to log a meal in GLP AI by photo, barcode, food search, or a typed or spoken description, how the GLP-1 Meal Score is calculated, how to correct a serving after you save, and how meals sit beside your doses and side effects. It also states what is free and what Premium unlocks.
GLP AI is for tracking and education, not medical advice. You enter your own meals; GLP AI does not verify them.
What food logging in GLP AI does
GLP AI logs meals for people taking a GLP-1 medication. Each meal is saved with its foods, amounts, protein, fiber, and calories, and gets a 0–100 GLP-1 Meal Score.
Meals sit on the same timeline as your doses, side effects, and weight, so a dose week and the meals in it are read together.
You enter your own meals. GLP AI does not verify what you ate, does not give medical or dietary advice, and does not recommend dose changes. Use it for tracking and education.
Four ways to log a meal
Log a meal from a photo
- Open GLP AI and tap Log food on the home screen.
- Choose Scan and take a photo of the plate.
- Review the foods GLP AI identified and the amount of each. Change any food or amount that is wrong.
- Save. The meal is scored and added to today's log.
Photo estimates are approximate. Check the amounts before you save.
Log a packaged food from a barcode
- Tap Log food, then Scan.
- Point the camera at the barcode on the package.
- Review the product and the serving size shown, then set how many servings you ate.
- Save.
Barcode scanning is available in the iPhone and Android apps. If a barcode is not found, you can scan the nutrition label on the package instead, or search for the food by name.
Log a meal by searching for a food
- Tap Log food, then Enter.
- Search for the food by name and pick the match.
- Set the amount you ate.
- Save.
Log a meal by typing or speaking
- Tap Log food, then Describe.
- Type what you ate, for example "two eggs, a slice of toast with butter, and a black coffee", or tap the microphone and say it.
- Review the foods and amounts GLP AI identified. Change anything that is wrong.
- Save.
Voice input uses your phone's speech recognition and needs microphone permission.
What the GLP-1 Meal Score reads
Every logged meal gets a GLP-1 Meal Score from 0 to 100 and a letter grade. The score reads four things: protein, fiber, portion balance, and nutrition quality. It is set for a GLP-1 appetite, where smaller meals need to carry more protein and fiber.
Letter grades match the app: A+ is 85–100, A is 70–84, B is 55–69, C is 40–54, and F is 0–39.
The letter describes the food, not the serving size. Changing the portion updates protein, fiber, and calories. It does not by itself change the letter.
| Grade | Range |
|---|---|
| A+ | 85–100 |
| A | 70–84 |
| B | 55–69 |
| C | 40–54 |
| F | 0–39 |
How the score is built, with examples scored in the app, is on the GLP-1 Meal Score page.
Correct a meal after you save it
- Open the saved meal from today's log.
- Change the serving size, or change or remove an ingredient.
- Save again. Protein, fiber, and calories update with the new amount, and the score is recalculated.
Protein, fiber, and water totals
Daily protein, fiber, and water totals update from the meal log against targets set for a GLP-1 appetite. Water is logged separately and counts toward its own target.
Meals beside doses and side effects
Meals, doses, side effects, and weight are saved on one timeline. A meal logged on a dose day appears beside that dose and any side effects logged the same day.
The AI coach can explain a meal you already logged. Open the meal and ask the coach, and it answers using that log together with your doses and symptoms.
Medications
GLP AI tracks any GLP-1: Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Rybelsus, Saxenda, semaglutide, tirzepatide, and compounded forms, as shots or pills. Food logging works the same for every medication.
Limits
- GLP AI is for tracking and education. It does not give medical or dietary advice, diagnose symptoms, or recommend dose changes.
- Photo and description estimates are approximate. The amount you confirm is what is saved.
- GLP AI does not verify what you ate. It saves what you enter.
- The GLP-1 Meal Score is GLP AI's own rating. It is not a clinical measure.
Food logging — FAQs
Can I log a meal without taking a photo?+
Yes. You can log a meal by scanning a barcode, searching for a food by name, or typing or speaking a description. Every method ends at the same review screen, where you confirm the foods and amounts before saving.
Does GLP AI scan barcodes?+
Yes. In the iPhone and Android apps, tap Log food, then Scan, and point the camera at the barcode. Review the serving size and the number of servings, then save. If a barcode is not found, scan the nutrition label or search for the food by name.
Can I fix a wrong portion after I save a meal?+
Yes. Open the saved meal, change the serving size or ingredients, and save again. Protein, fiber, and calories update with the new amount, and the GLP-1 Meal Score is recalculated.
Does changing the portion change the letter grade?+
Usually not. The letter grade describes the food, not the serving size. Changing the portion updates protein, fiber, and calories; the letter stays with the food unless the ingredients change.
Does the GLP-1 Meal Score count calories?+
Calories are logged with every meal, but the score reads protein, fiber, portion balance, and nutrition quality. Two meals with the same calories can get different scores.
Can the AI coach explain a meal I logged?+
Yes. Open the logged meal and ask the coach. It answers using that log together with your doses and symptoms. The coach gives general information, not medical advice.
Which medications does food logging work with?+
All of them. GLP AI tracks Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Rybelsus, Saxenda, semaglutide, tirzepatide, and compounded forms, as shots or pills, and food logging works the same for each.
Is food logging free in GLP AI?+
Free covers tracking, with a limited try of the AI coach, Meal Score, and medication chart. Premium unlocks the full versions. Food logging itself is part of tracking.
